ソロとしてair Records（現ソニー・ミュージック）よりアルバム『MANHATTAN IN THE RAIN』でデビュー。都会的で洗練されたAOR、シティポップの旗手として注目を集める。
82年に「MOON RECORDS」に移籍し、洗練されたメロディラインと、卓越したアレンジ能力が特徴。特に1982年のアルバム『midnight cruisin'』に収録された『街のドルフィン』は、現在の世界的なシティポップ・ブームにおいて「象徴的な一曲」として高く評価されている。ボーカリストとしてだけでなく、ギタリスト、ベーシスト、キーボーディストとしても一流の腕を持ち、現在も現役でステージに立ち続けています。
またソングライターとしても西城秀樹、太田裕美、岩崎宏美、高橋真梨子、岡田有希子、岩崎良美など。その提供曲は200曲超える。

In 1974, he joined the folk group **"Craft"**—best known for their hit "Boku ni Makasete Kudasai"—as a bassist, remaining with them until their disbandment in 1978.
He made his solo debut with the album *MANHATTAN IN THE RAIN* under air Records (now Sony Music), garnering attention as a leading figure in urban, sophisticated AOR and City Pop.
After moving to **MOON RECORDS** in 1982, he became renowned for his polished melodic lines and exceptional arranging skills. In particular, the track **"Machi no Dolphin"** (Dolphin in the Town) from his 1982 album *midnight cruisin'* has earned high acclaim as an iconic anthem within the current global City Pop movement.
Beyond his work as a vocalist, he is a first-class talent on guitar, bass, and keyboards, and continues to perform live to this day. As a prolific songwriter, he has provided over 200 songs for legendary artists such as Hideki Saijo, Hiromi Ota, Hiromi Iwasaki, Mariko Takahashi, Yukiko Okada, and Yoshimi Iwasaki.
